Virtual Wine Tasting – May Update

Excellent wine, great conversation, lots of laughter – a recipe for a fun night! And that’s exactly what we had at the Virtual Wine Tasting on May 19th. It was especially important to us because it was a way to bring our residents and their friends and family together for a fun evening while raising critical funds for the home.
Two Witness families, the Klein family of Allora Vineyards, and the Stallard family of R.A.W Winery, came together to host this event. These amazing friends contributed their time, expertise, and a part of the proceeds of the wine sold!

What Was the Purpose of the Event?
A lot of work went into the planning and execution of the event. The goals of the fundraiser were to:
- Raise Awareness so others can know that there is a supportive care option for elderly Jehovah’s Witnesses.
- Raise funds for the care of residents who cannot bear the cost of care on their own.
- Help us invest in tools that can enhance different aspects of care.
The registration fee of $15 went entirely into fulfilling this goal. Allora Vineyards and R.A.W Winery also contributed a part of the proceeds of each bottle of wine purchased from them to Legacy Place.
What We Did at the Event
The show was a hit! Our wine expert Terry from Allora Vineyards had us in splits with his ready wit and humor. He spoke about three of their limited-edition wines – the 2022 Allora Chardonnay, 2019 Allora Estate Petite Sirah, and 2019 Tresca Estate Cabernet. He was joined by the awesome duo Matt and Misty of R.A.W Winery who regaled us with amusing anecdotes and history about three of their urban wines – Gather, Roseto Effect, and Amethyst.
We learned a great deal about the distinct appearance, bouquet, taste, and aftertaste of each wine. We were given some excellent recommendations on cheese and meat pairings to go with each wine as well.
